SARS Traveller Declaration

SARS DECLARATION FORM

for all travellers

If you're travelling into or out of South Africa, please take note of an important new travel requirement.

As of 1 July 2026, all travellers entering or departing South Africa are required to complete an online Traveller Declaration before travelling. Introduced by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), the Traveller Declaration forms part of the Customs process and is designed to streamline border procedures while ensuring travellers declare goods, currency and other regulated items they are carrying.

Who needs to complete it?

The online Traveller Declaration is mandatory for all travellers entering or leaving South Africa by:

Air

Land

Sea

Travelling by Road?

If you’re entering or leaving South Africa in a foreign-registered vehicle, you’ll also need to comply with the SARS vehicle declaration requirements introduced on 1 June 2026

Before You Travel

To help ensure a smooth journey, we recommend completing your Traveller Declaration well before your departure. Please ensure all information is accurate and keep a copy of your electronic confirmation readily available, as it may be requested by Customs officials during your travels.
